Ingredients

(feeds 21 people)Unless you are freezing this or feeding a lot of people, Id recommend cutting this recipe in half. 5 lbs ground beef 2 lbs Spanish onion chopped 2 stalks celery, chopped 2 large green bell peppers, chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced 5 (14 oz) cans stewed tomatoes 4 c V-8 juice 1/4 c barbecue sauce 1/2 c catsup 2 packages chili mix 2 envelopes dry onion soup mix 4 t chili powder 2 t cumin 2 beef bouillon cubes 2 t salt 1/4 t cayenne pepper 1/2 t pepper 1/2 t dried basil leaves 2 bay leaves can of kidney beans 2 cans of tomato paste In large Dutch oven, brown ground beef. Drain. Add onions, celery, green peppers and garlic; stir to mix. Cook until soft. Add remaining . Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 2 hours. Check seasoning. Simmer 1 hour longer. Remove bay leaves. 5 quarts
