- 2 1/2 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cups plus 2 Tbsp cold water, divided
- 3 1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 7 to 8 oz bottled roasted chestnuts
- 1/4 lb thinly sliced country ham or speck
