Ingredients

Molasses cookies (Aunt VIV)
Creamed together:
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
Then add well beaten egg and mix well
Add 2 cups molasses
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar.
In a separate bowl
7 cups sifted flour
2tsp ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
Add 1 cup boiling H2O, little at a time;
Bake ungreased cookie sheet
350 for 12 minutes
Optional add walnut halves and/ or icing
