Ingredients

  • 700g asparagus spears, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1L vegetable or chicken stock
  • 400ml water
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh lemon thyme
  • 1 pot creme fraiche, to garnish
