Upside-down Caramel Pear Pie

Ingredients

  • Double crust:
  • 2 C. all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 C. Crisco all-vegetable shortening
  • 3-4 Tbs. ice water
  • Filling:
  • 2 Tbs. butter or stick margarine, softened Pecan halves to cover bottom of pie plate
  • 1/2 C. brown sugar
  • Cooking spray
  • 3/4-1 C. sugar (depending on pear sweetness)
  • 2 Tbs. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp. allspice, optional
  • 5 C. peeled, sliced fresh pears
  • 1 Tbs. butter
  • Garnish:
  • 1/2 C. SMUCKER'S Caramel Topping
  • Freshly whipped, sweetened cream (optional)
