  • 1kg beef chuck steak, trimmed, cubed
  • 3 rashers shortcut rindless bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium brown onion, thickly sliced
  • 2 small carrots, peeled, roughly chopped
  • 3 celery stalks, roughly chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1 1/2 cups red wine
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 250g cup mushrooms, quartered
  • 3 fresh rosemary sprigs
  • mashed potato, to serve
