Austrian Curd Cake with "Foamy Sauce"

  • For the Cake:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 cups cream-style, large-curd cottage cheese
  • 1/3 cup granulated tapioca
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • For the "Foamy Sauce":
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 tsp ground mace
  • 1 cup sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp granted lemon rind
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped
