    2 pounds lean ground beef
    1/2 cup rice cracker crumbs
    (or regular if you do not require gluten free--recipe calculated with regular style)
    1 small onion, cut in half (optional for 1/2 the onion)
    1 cup grated carrots
    1 egg
    1 can (15 ounce) tomato sauce, divided
    2 to 3 teaspoons gluten-free mustard (yellow or Dijon)
    1 tablespoon gluten-free Worcestershire sauce
    1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
    freshly ground black pepper
    2 teaspoons natural brown sugar
