  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh chèvre (goat) cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons brandy or milk
  • 3 tablespoons thinly sliced chives or green onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 teaspoons chili oil
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3 dozen unsalted water crackers or thin apple slices
