- 10 to 12 wood craft or caramel apple sticks
- 3 cups (18 oz.) white candy chips or chunks, suitable for melting (not all kinds will melt)
- 2 tablespoons solid shortening
- 2 black licorice sticks (6 in.), cut crosswise into thin slices (optional)
