Aunt Bev's Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 T. oil
  • 6 oz. ch. ham or bacon
  • 1 lg. onion, chopped (2 c.)
  • 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 2 T. dark molasses
  • 2 T. apple cider vinegar
  • 2 T. Worchestersire
  • 1/2 t. liquid smoke
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 t. chili powder
  • 1/2 t. hot pepper sauce
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can butter beans, drained
  • 1 can black beans, drained
  • 1 can chick peas, drained
  • Preheat to 375. Heat oil, saute bacon, stirring until browned. Add onion. Saute over mod. high heat stirring often until soft and lightly browned.
  • Transfer to 3 qt. baking dish or bean pot (I do the 1st step in one that can go into the oven, too). Stir in the rest of the ingredients.
  • Bake uncovered 45 min, stirring every 15. It man seem soupy, but will thicken.
