Dough 2¼ cups unbleached all-purpose white flour 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted and cooled, plus 1½ sticks unsalted butter ¾ tsp. salt ¾ cup lukewarm water 1 beaten egg Fillings ~ Apples, apricots, cherries, plums, spinach, cheese, and salmon, as well as plain breadcrumbs, sugar, and occasional nuts and spices (see Note for variations) ~ Whipped cream, for garnish (for fruit strudel)
