- 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
- 6 garlic cloves, chopped in half
- ½ cup Splenda
- ¼ cup liquid smoke, hickory flavored
- 7 to 10 sprigs of thyme
- 3 whole bay leaves
- Chicken:
- 1 whole chicken, thawed
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temp
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke, hickory flavored
- Salt and pepper
