Ingredients
- Â Â MINCEMEAT (Sufficient FOR 2 PIES):
- 2 lb Granny Smith or possibly other tart hard apples (4 to 5 medium)
- 2 lb McIntosh apples, (5 to 6 medium)
- 2 med Oranges
- 2 med Lemons
- 2Â 1/2 c. Dark or possibly golden brown raisins, (one 15 or possibly 16ounce package)
- 1Â 2/3 c. Currants (one 12ounce package)
- 1/2 c. Diced candied orange peel
- 1Â 1/4 c. Light brown sugar
- 2/3 c. Dark rum or possibly brandy
- 1/4 c. Distilled white vinegar
- 8 Tbsp. Unsalted butter, (1 stick)
- 1 tsp Freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 tsp Grnd cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Grnd cloves
- 1/2 tsp Grnd ginger
- 1 x Double batch Lowfat sour cream Dough for a 2-crust pie (see recipe)
- 1 x Egg well beaten with
- 1 pch Salt
- 2 tsp Sugar for finishing the top of the pie
