Amish Bean Soup Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb navy beans
  • 3 quart water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pch baking soda
  • 1/2 c. shredded carrot
  • 1 c. minced celery
  • 2 med onions, minced
  • 2 x bay leaves
  • 1 1/2 lb ham meat
  •     Ham bones
  •     Leftover ham drippings
  • 1 c. mashed boiled potato
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dry thyme, optional
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c. minced fresh parsley
