Apple Pan Dowdy Recipe


  •     Butter (for ramekins)
  • 12 slc Bread, white, hard
  • 6 Tbsp. Butter, unsalted, or possibly more
  •     Sugar
  • 4 lrg Apples, baking (Rome other not-too-tart variety) peeled, cored, quarters cut cross-wise into 1/4-inch slices
  • 3 Tbsp. Molasses
  • 1/2 c. Sugar, light brown, firmly packed
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg, finely grated
  • 3 Tbsp. Rum, dark
  • 2 Tbsp. Juice, lemon
  • 1 Tbsp. Vanilla
  • 5 Tbsp. Butter, unsalted, chilled cut into small pcs
  • 1 c. Cream, whipping, lightly whipped, sweetened with sugar
