Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c. cornmeal
  • 1 quart. water, very hot
  • 2 ounce dry yeast
  • 1/4 pound butter, cubed
  • 3/4 c. molasses
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 1/4 lbs. flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 c. raisins or possibly dates (opt.)
