  • 1 1/3 c. finely minced white part of leek washed well and liquid removed
  • 1 1/3 c. finely minced onion
  • 1 c. thinly sliced celery
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 3 lb asparagus trimmed and cut into 1-inch pcs, reserving about30 tips for garnish
  • 4 c. chicken broth
  • 2 c. water
