  • 1 x First-cut brisket (5 lb) trimmed of all visible fat
  •     Freshly grnd black pepper
  • 1/4 c. Corn oil
  • 8 x Onion(s), thickly sliced separated into rings
  • 6 x Carrots, peeled cut in chunks
  • 3 x Garlic clove(s), chopped
  • 2 x Bay leaves
  • 4 Tbsp. Tomato paste
  •     Salt to taste
  • 16 ounce Can tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 c. Dry red wine
