Cape Cod Cakes Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp garlic pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp onion pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp dry thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dry basil
  • 1/4 tsp grnd cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne
  • 1/8 tsp freshly-grnd white pepper
  • 1/8 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
  • 1/4 c. tamari or possibly soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 c. apple juice
  • 1 x garlic clove crushed
  • 1/4 tsp chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 ounce dry hijiki
  • 1 lb hard or possibly extra-hard tofu
  • 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 med onion finely minced
  • 3 x garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 med red bell pepper finely minced
  • 1 x celery stalk finely minced
  • 1/2 c. finely-minced fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 3 Tbsp. soy mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared horseradish
  • 1/2 tsp warm pepper sauce
  • 1/4 c. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 c. plain bread crumbs
  •     Vegetable oil if pan-frying
  •     Lemon wedges for garnish
