Ash E Jow (iranian Barley Soup) Recipe


  • 1 c. dry barley
  • 1/2 c. dry green or possibly red lentils
  • 6 c. water
  • 2 med onions, diced
  • 2 Tbsp. olive or possibly sunflower oil
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mint or possibly parsley
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp grnd black pepper
  • 1 x put everything into a pot an
  • 2 x simmer for 1 1/4 hrs, stir
  • 3 x serve with feta cheese and s


Variations: Fry The Onions, In The Oil, Before Putting Them In The Pot. Add In 1 C. Of Cooked Chick Peas Or Possibly Red Kidney Beans, A Few Min Before Serving.
