Eliza Larmour's Gingersnaps

Ingredients

  • Cooking Time: 12 minutes

  • 1 cup solid vegetable shortening (I use butter flavored Crisco)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda (not a typo--1 tablespoon!)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 cups flour

I Found This Recipe In A Newspaper About Twenty Years Ago When I Was Living In Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm Not Sure Who Eliza Larmour Was, But Her Cookie Recipe Is Darn Good!
