- 1-1/4 lb. of soup meat (you can use chuck roast, short ribs, etc.)
- 3/4 lb. beets (or a 15 oz. can)
- 1 lb. potatoes
- 1 lb. cabbage
- 1 (6-oz.) can tomato paste
- 2 slices bacon
- 1 tsp. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 medium-size carrots, sliced
- 1 medium-size onion, sliced
- 1 stalk celery
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 clove garlic
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh dill or parsley, chopped fine
- Sour cream
- 2 cups skinned tomatoes
