Ingredients

  • 1 cup Basmati rice
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 6 ounces unsalted cashew nuts
  • 1 large carrot, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 3 red chillies, seeded and sliced (optional)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cups low sodium vegetable or chicken broth
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Garnishing Ingredients:
  • 6 small onions, sliced and browned
  • 2 hard boiled eggs, peeled and cut in wedges
  • 2 tomatoes, cut in wedges
  • 1 cumcumber, partially peeled and sliced
