Ingredients

  • cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, unsalted
  • 8 ounces almond paste cut into about 1/8-inch slices
  • 2 1/2 cups flour all-purpose (not bread flour)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar dark brown
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons yeast, active dry
  • 1 teaspoon corn syrup dark
  • 1 teaspoon water warm, (110-115 degrees F)
  • 1 x almonds slivered for garnish
