1 lb (500 g) Ontario Asparagus, trimmed 8 large Ontario Potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/4-inch (5 mm) thick 3 tbsp (50 mL) butter 2 cups (500 mL) chopped onion 3 tbsp (50 mL) all-purpose flour 3 cups (750 mL) milk 1 bay leaf 1-1/2 cups (375 mL) shredded old Ontario Cheddar Cheese Salt and pepper
