Almond and lemon syrup cake

Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 45 g slightly stale breadcrumbs
  • 200 g caster sugar
  • 100 g ground almonds
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 200 ml sunflower oil
  • 4 eggs
  • finely grated zest of 1 lemons
  • primrose flowers, to garnish (optional)
For the syrup:

  • 100 ml water
  • juice of 1 small lemons
  • 85 g caster sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp rose water
