Ingredients
PASTRY:- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup cold butter, cut into thin slices
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 1/3 cup ice water
FILLING:- 1 broiler/fryer chicken (3 to 4 pounds), cut up
- 2 quarts water
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1-1/2 cups fresh or frozen cut green beans
- 1-1/2 cups thinly sliced carrots
- 1 cup diced peeled potatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 package (10 ounces) frozen peas
- 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1/4 cup butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
GLAZE:- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon cold water
OTHER MATERIALS NEEDED:
6 new clay flowerpots (4-inch diameter)- Canola oil
Aluminum foil
Decorative seed packets glued onto wooden craft sticks
