- 3 black plums or large Italian prune plums, halved and pitted (10 ounces)
- 6 cups water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
