Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 pound  beef back ribs
  • 3 12-ounces bottles or cans  bock beer or dark beer
  • 2 cups  water
  • 2   bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup  butter
  • 4 medium  onions, sliced (2 cups)
  • 1/4 cup  packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups  ketchup
  • 1/2 cup  canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 1/4 cup  Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup  lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup  bottled hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup  balsamic vinegar
  •   Bottled ranch salad dressing (optional)
