- 2 tablespoons tamari (dark soy sauce)
- 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce or Chinese mustard
- 1 1/2 pounds skinless, boneless pork or chicken, cut into bite-size pieces
- Salt and pepper
- 1 large red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, grated or finely chopped
- 1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted (a generous handful)
- 2 scallions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 green apple, chopped (optional)
